Thank you for this opportunity to introduce Við Tjarnir and share our story with IBTM visitors. We’re excited to be part of the Visit Faroe Islands Meetings stand this year!
Q: About Me and IBTM Goals
My name is Regin W. Dalsgaard, and I’m the newly appointed CEO of Við Tjarnir, a multi-arena in Tórshavn, set to open in mid-February 2025. This year will be my first time representing Við Tjarnir at IBTM Barcelona, and I’m looking forward to meeting international event planners, innovative venue operators, and partners interested in our unique offering. As we launch Við Tjarnir, this is a special opportunity to introduce our facility to the international market and discuss exciting collaborations. I invite visitors to meet me at Stand H33, where we’ll be sharing exclusive insights into our opening and showcasing the possibilities within our versatile spaces in the Faroe Islands.
Q: What’s New in 2024?
Initiatives and Innovations
This year, we focused on designing a truly versatile and sustainable event venue that aligns with Faroe Islands’ unique natural and cultural heritage. A standout innovation is our modular space approach, which allows the arena to be reconfigured seamlessly for diverse events—from sports tournaments to corporate seminars to large-scale concerts. This adaptability supports both intimate gatherings and large conventions, setting us apart as a dynamic destination for various event needs.Integration with Wool, Water, and Wellness (WWW)
As Við Tjarnir is still under development, we’re in the process of exploring ways to incorporate the Wool, Water, and Wellness theme into our space. We’re also working toward Green Key and Green Sport certifications to demonstrate our commitment to sustainability. Once the arena is complete, we look forward to improve the venue with locally sourced materials and wellness-inspired offerings that align with this theme.A Personal Learning on Innovation
This year, leading Við Tjarnir’s development has reinforced the importance of embedding local culture and sustainability into large-scale projects. My “A Ha” moment was realizing that innovation doesn’t always mean reinventing the wheel; instead, it’s often about harmonizing what’s already culturally significant with modern needs.I am committed to bringing this perspective into every aspect of Við Tjarnir.
