During my visit at Villa Erba at the beginning of March, I led an interview with Francesca Schiatti, Commercial Manager at the venue. We talked about her work, about past events and the particularities the Villa has to offer for MICE.

1. What is jour job at Villa Erba? For how long have you been working here?
I am working in the Commercial department at Villa Erba. My job is to answer to requests from clients, I send the proposals and offers, collect all services and then hand them over to the client. I also support the clients on site. That means I am your reference point from the beginning to the end.

I’ve been working here for 22 years now, so I know Villa Erba utterly. All in all, there are 10 people working at Villa Erba. 4 of them are dedicated to MICE activities.

2. What is so special about Villa Erba, in comparison to other venues?
Everything is special at Villa Erba: the lake, the modern conference centre, the park and the people. The atmosphere is very relaxing. We want our guests to feel the exclusivity and privacy here, privacy even when there are two different events at the same time – one in the Villa, one in the Exhibition and Congress Centre. I’m totally in love with this venue.

3. What would be the first thing you would show a visitor coming to Villa Erba?
In the Villa definitely the room with the huge window, from where you have an amazing view on Lake Como. In the Congress Centre I would show the visitor the room at the end of wing, in front of the Lake. Both are the most beautiful rooms in the whole venue.

4. Which was your favourite event that has taken place at Villa Erba?
The Ferrari event in February was really great: the world premiere of the new Ferrari V12 took place at our venue and we welcomed among others Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen. Further, it was the Gala dinner of the German National Day Celebrations during EXPO Milan 2015 and of course, the Concorso d’Eleganza promoted by BMW that we are hosting for 15 years now. As you can see, we have many German clients here.

Unforgettable for us: the filming of the Nespresso commercial and the filming of some scenes of Ocean’s 12. All of us were really excited to meet George Clooney.
