1) About me and my goals for IBTM

I am Jóhanna Rasmussen and I work as the Sales Director at Hotel Føroyar in Torshavn, Faroe Islands. For me personally it is my first time at IBTM and I am curious and excited to see what kind of business for our islands and our hotel can be discussed there. I look forward to making new buisness friends and to show our beautiful property.

2) What is New in 2024?

As the largest hotel in the Faroe Islands, we have become member of Nordic Hotels & Resorts in May 1, 2024. From 2020 onwards, Hotel Føroyar underwent a major facelift where, among other things, the number of hotel rooms were increased from 160 to 200, including brand new Executive Suites. As part of the expansion, the hotel also inaugurated the first part of its new spa, Ress, in the summer of 2021. Our most exciting news now is that Ress Spa is expanding and will be fully completed in early 2025. Our guests can then enjoy indoor and outdoor pools, steam bath, stone bath, saunas with sea view, a rooftop pool and ice bath.

Located just outside Tórshavn, we are fully integrated in the natural landscape of our beautiful environment. The architecture features a grass-covered roof that blends seamlessly with the surrounding hills, typical of traditional Faroese buildings. This not only helps it harmonize visually with the environment but also serves as insulation, contributing to its eco-friendly approach. The hotel also offers panoramic views over Tórshavn and the fjord, which guests can enjoy from many of the rooms and common areas.

Hotel Føroyar is known for its emphasis on sustainable practices and locally sourced materials and cuisine. The restaurant, Ruts, highlights local ingredients in traditional and contemporary Faroese dishes, adding a cultural experience for guests interested in Faroese heritage and gastronomy.

Everything else I will tell you in our meeting at IBTM in Barcelona – you find me at Stand H33, Visit Faroe Islands Meetings.
