Question 1)

Please shortly introduce yourself and let IBTM Visitors know what your goal is for this years IBTM –how often have you been in Barcelona, who do you want to meet, and what is the most exciting reason to come and see you at the stand of H33 Visit Faroe Islands?

Hello, IBTM Visitors! My name is Heðin, representing REMÓT Travel from the breathtaking Faroe Islands. This year, I am thrilled to come to Barcelona this time and continue with introducing our company once again (my colleague was present last year already), representing one of the world’s most unique destinations for meetings and events. I’m eager to connect with international meeting planners, event organizers, and anyone curious about creating unforgettable experiences in the Faroe Islands.
This will be my first time attending IBTM World in Barcelona, and my primary goal is to build new partnerships that spotlight the Faroe Islands as a destination for sustainable, nature-inspired meetings. I’m excited to share how REMÓT Travel’s distinctive approach immerses guests in the “untamed” aspects of the Faroese landscape, culture, and wellness.

Question 2) Now, the topic of 2024: What’s NEW in the destination, in your company and for yourself:

a) – Did you create new initiatives or realise innovative ideas through your events this year? Do you have a case study how you did it and what was the most innovational aspect of the program?

This year, REMÓT Travel have been working on designing a program for groups wanting a unique blend of nature and wellness. We recently organized a multi-day executive retreat, where attendees experienced guided hikes, sea kayaking, and community dinners featuring traditional Faroese cuisine. Each day was crafted around the island’s natural “elements,” weaving stories of the local environment into every activity.

b) – Did you manage any program element in connection with Wool – Water – Wellness (the www of the Faroe Islands) this year?

This year, we embraced the WWW concept by introducing a “Wool Workshop” where participants not only learned the art of Faroese knitting but also gained insights into sustainable wool production and the significance of wool in Faroese culture. For “Water,” we incorporated a mindful coastal walk along the cliffs and outdoor jacuzzi and sauna for relaxation. And finally, “Wellness” was infused throughout the program, with Pilates and Yoga sessions in the pristine Faroese landscapes.

c) – Did you personally learn something about innovation this year that you would like to share and that you wish to commit to in your work? A personal “A Ha” effect so to say?

This year, I learned that true innovation often means returning to simplicity. A standout “A-ha” moment was realizing that, in a world of constant connectivity, our guests appreciated the moments when they could disconnect and reconnect with nature. This inspired me to prioritize simplicity and authenticity even more in REMÓT’s programming, offering spaces where attendees can truly unplug.

Question 3) What is the greatest news from 2024 in the Faroe Islands interesting for international meeting planners?

The Faroe Islands offer truly un-ordinary meetings, where every gathering is immersed in the raw beauty and unique character of our islands. Here, meetings transcend the traditional—attendees are invited to connect deeply with nature and local culture. From boardrooms on cliff edges to breakout sessions surrounded by breathtaking ocean views, each event is designed to inspire and invigorate.

Thanks Heðin for sharing this info with us!

Wishing you much success for your first visit at IBTM Barcelona and to connect with meeting planners who love your concept of innovating!
