1) Me and my goals for IBTM 2024!

Hello! I’m Sólmaj, and I work as a Booking Coordinator for both Hotel Brandan and Hotel Hafnia, and I’m truly excited to be returning to Barcelona for my second IBTM.

This year, I’m looking forward to reconnecting with familiar faces as well as building new relationships with event planners, international partners, and innovative businesses eager to explore the unique offerings of the Faroe Islands.

2) Our approach to Sustainability

Sustainability is central to our mission at Hotel Brandan and Hotel Hafnia, and our Green Key certification reflects this commitment. Through eco-friendly practices like energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste reduction, we strive to minimize our environmental footprint. We also proudly support community initiatives such as “Rudda Føroyar,” a local clean-up project in the Faroe Islands, inviting guests to join us in preserving Tórshavn’s natural beauty.

Built in 2020, Hotel Brandan offers modern, eco-conscious accommodations, while Hotel Hafnia combines contemporary upgrades with historic charm after a major renovation in 2022. Both hotels provide high-quality, sustainable experiences that reflect our dedication to responsible hospitality.

This year, we have had great focus on our team’s training which has elevated our service quality, creating seamless, sustainable experiences that embody Faroese hospitality at its finest.

Water – Wool – Wellness

Water: In our latest menu at Húsagarður restaurant, we’ve introduced a special “catch of the day” dish, allowing our guests to enjoy fresh, locally sourced fish each day. This not only brings the finest quality of Faroese fish to the table but also supports our local fishing community and helps minimize food waste.

Wool: At Hotel Hafnia, we offer a variety of meeting and group rooms to suit different needs. In addition to our hotel rooms, we also have five charming cottages located just outside the hotel. Some of these cottages are over 300 years old, adding a unique, historical touch to any event.
This year, we had the privilege of hosting the North Atlantic Native Sheep and Wool Conference, where some of the workshops were held in these cottages. The combination of the cottages’ rich history and the Faroese tradition of knitting created the perfect setting for this special event.

What is the greatest news from 2024 in the Faroe Islands interesting for international meeting planners?

The opening of the new multiarena “Við Tjarnir” expands the capacity to host large conferences, concerts, sports events, and more, enhancing the Faroe Islands’ appeal as a destination for high-profile events. With its facilities, Við Tjarnir provides an unforgettable setting for any occasion.
As a catering provider, we’re excited about the opening and are ready to deliver our services.
